I’ve tested and reviewed four rotary tools that appear nearly identical — so much so that it seems like they were made using the same mold. However, despite their visual similarities, their performance varies noticeably. For example, two of them showed virtually no difference between the first and second speed settings, which prompted me to take the comparison video included here. This particular tool stands out because it clearly delivers distinct speed levels and has consistently strong torque across all settings — something I can’t say about the others. When I etched several hardened railroad spikes, this one easily performed the best, handling the task with more control and precision than the rest. Although it doesn’t come with a dedicated carrying case, the molded box insert works surprisingly well as storage for both the tool and its accessories. Speaking of accessories, this kit includes a better selection than two of the other models I tested. It comes with two collets, which is a plus if you plan to use larger Dremel-compatible bits. The set includes a generous variety of grinding stones, diamond burrs, drill bits, and brushes. The sanding system uses the splined, press-on design — my personal favorite — which is far more convenient than the older screw-top version that can be frustrating to use. Charging is simple with a USB port located on the bottom, and I’ve found the battery life to be excellent. It’s clear that battery technology in these tools is improving rapidly, and this one really benefits from that. The only minor issue I experienced was that a burr came loose twice during use, but tightening it gently with pliers solved the problem without damaging anything.
